Emma Raducanu advanced to round three in three out of four major tournaments in the current campaign.

The British tennis star Emma Raducanu has withdrawn from her remaining competitions in 2025 as a result of the illness she has been battling in recent days.

At 22 years old was due to play in events in Asia but opted to return home to rest and recuperate prior to beginning her preparations for 2026.

Those preparations will include her coach Francisco Roig, as both individuals will keep partnering again next season.

Raducanu had her blood pressure taken while playing the initial match versus Ann Li in Wuhan last week and retired when behind 6-1 4-1 on a day with extreme humidity.

She again required a visit from the doctor at the Ningbo Open this week, where she was defeated in three sets to local wildcard Zhu Lin in round one.

Raducanu was also moving far from freely in the final set versus Zhu owing to the lower back problem that has troubled her during parts of the season.

Such performances signaled a promising season, in which the player advanced into the top 30 globally after more than three years in more than three years, ended with three successive defeats.

The athlete was close to victory with three match points then was defeated by Jessica Pegula in the third stage in Beijing last month.

The player achieved 28 victories during 2025 and advanced to the semis in the Washington tournament, but her most impressive week was at the Miami Open in March.

As Britain's top player made the last eight of a premier WTA event, beating eighth seed Emma Navarro on the way before losing in three sets to fourth-ranked Pegula.

She was coached by Mark Petchey from the Miami event through Wimbledon, with Roig assuming the role in time for the US Open.

The original arrangement with the former trainer of Nadal was for the remainder of the year but they will keep working together, with planned training sessions for the end of the year.

The athlete revealed that her three-day trial alongside Roig after Wimbledon was like a "black ops mission" as they aimed to maintain secrecy.

She nearly succeeded to beating world number one Aryna Sabalenka at the first competition with Roig in Cincinnati in August.

The coach also accompanied Raducanu in the New York tournament, where she made the third stage prior to losing to 2022 Wimbledon champion Elena Rybakina.
