Ex- BBC Advisers Face Members of Parliament's Inquiry Following Claims of Partiality in Unauthorized Memo
We begin with queries from Conservative MP the committee chair, who chairs the group.
She commences by offering details to the disclosed memo authored by Michael Prescott and printed in a national newspaper.
"I do not desire the British Broadcasting Corporation tilting in any particular direction, I simply desire it neutral, impartial and fair," he declares.
In response to a query whether he considers the BBC is structurally prejudiced, Prescott answers: "No, I do not. It is important to note, a great deal the British Broadcasting Corporation creates is world class - including documentary and entertainment shows."
However, he continues: "There is substantial tasks that must be undertaken at the BBC."
Another former external BBC specialist questioned by the panel, Caroline Daniel, remarks she takes the British Broadcasting Corporation with great importance and that it maintains a "ongoing system and vigorous discourse" across dynamic and complex subjects.
"Whether the BBC was ready to conduct a proper discussion and exchange and implement changes?" she questions. "As I see it, affirmative, they were."
